Each challenge is divided into four shuffled dispatches of five flags. The countdown waits for the first answer or Atlas Hint, stops after the fifth correct identification, and resets before the next folder. Easy allows 76 seconds per dispatch, medium 66, and hard 56. That structure keeps one difficult comparison from consuming time reserved for all later groups while still rewarding quick, careful recognition.
Balance hints, stamps, and streak scoring
Three passport-stamp lives last across the full 20-flag session. A wrong country removes 44 points, resets the streak, disables that switch, and spends one stamp; losing the third ends the run. Easy supplies four Atlas Hints, medium three, and hard two. Each hint costs 26 points and exposes the flag's broad region and geometric pattern. Correct flags award a base score, remaining seconds, and an increasing streak bonus, while every cleared dispatch adds another time-sensitive reward.
Pause and restart with predictable state
Pause, P, or Escape freezes an active clock while preserving the current flag, country order, rejected answers, score, stamps, hints, and streak. Resume continues from the same second. Restart or R selects a fresh 20-flag order at the current level; choosing Easy, Medium, or Hard starts a clean run with the matching pool, clock, and hint allowance. All timing, SVG rendering, randomization, scoring, and state transitions run locally in the browser.
